Spec OpenACS.org Redesign
The Details
Client: Spec Work / OpenACS
From the OpenACS website: OpenACS (Open Architecture Community System) is a toolkit for building scalable, community-oriented web applications.
In 2003 I spent some time redesigning the OpenACS logo and website, trying to keep the established visual iconography (specifically Phillip Greenspun’s dog, Alex :-)) while updating the look, feel, and HTML code to the current century.
A new logotype was developed using a font that was both modern and yet reminiscent of the teletype fonts that programmers use. Navigation for the site was reworked to bring important parts of the project to the front, and make sure that visitors were provided with the most information as quickly as possible. Design was implemented in handcoded HTML and CSS.
Several variations on the logo/logotype were developed, including a vertically stacked one that was also used in a “badge” that could be added to site powered by the system.
